Sam Stubbs is expecting a tough and physical game as City make the trip to the Wham Stadium to face Accrington Stanley this weekend.

Despite the departure of long-standing Accrington boss John Coleman, Stubbs anticipates the same "fight and grit" from the side that has given him two cuts on his eye the last two times he has faced them.

“The work he (John Coleman) has done there will carry on,” he said.

“Whenever you go to Accrington you expect them to have that fight and grit.

“They are fantastic at what they do there.

“The last two times I have been there I have cut my eye open, which sums up what you are going to get from them.

“They were in League One for I think four or five seasons, which is great when you see some of the budgets in that league.

“That will be with them on Saturday. It is not going to be easy for us.”

With less than two months of the regular season left, Stubbs understands the task at hand and importance of the next period of games for him and the rest of the squad to achieve their goals this season.

He insists there is a "hunger around the place" as the Bantams prepare for a tough and compact run of games.

“There is no hiding from it, the next three weeks are very important,” he added.

“I think we have two games a week for the next three weeks.

“This is probably a pivotal moment in the season because, after this run of games, you will know where you are.

“There is definitely a hunger around the place and a hunger after Tuesday night.

“It is getting to crunch time.”
