Sam joined the Bantams in January, following the expiration of his short-term contract at Sky Bet League One side Charlton Athletic.

The 6ft 6ins ‘keeper began his career at Premier League side Chelsea, where he was a member of the successful 2009-10 FA Youth Cup winning squad.

After becoming a regular at reserve-team level, Walker spent numerous loan spells at an array of EFL clubs, before making a permanent move to Colchester United, after helping them retain their League One status in the 2012/13 campaign.

After over 180 appearances in Essex, Walker joined Reading, before spending loan spells at then-League One sides Blackpool and AFC Wimbledon.

A stint in Scotland followed with Kilmarnock, where he joined the goalkeeper ranks with City’s current goalkeeper coach, Colin Doyle.

Before his move to the University of Bradford Stadium, Walker then stood between the sticks for Charlton Athletic after moving back across the border in October 2023.
